AEPS
ACTIVATES NEW INTERNET DATABASE TECHNOLOGY
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE April 30, 2001
Ft. Lauderdale - The web development team at Aviation Employee
Placement Service (AEPS) has completed a series of new AEPS
software and hardware enhancements to their Internet Database
and web site (www.aeps.com). The improvements include a new e-mail
multiple delivery system.
According to the development team,
"The web site has a whole new look and feel, which is much
more intuitive, clean and easier to navigate. You can get anywhere
in the site with far fewer clicks than before," he says.
The AEPS database system is an Enterprise Level Clustered Database
that runs across multiple high-end servers. "Our web sites
are now running servers that include Macromedia Coldfusion and
Macromedia Spectra with more ready to be deployed to meet the
needs of our users," says Wheatley.
AEPS is the largest provider of Internet aviation recruiting services
with an active database of more than 130,000 pre-qualified aviation
employee candidates and 8,000 registered aviation recruiters.
AEPS also produces a series of highly successful aviation recruiting
AirFairs at aviation centers around the U.S.
Explaining the new technology, "Clustering
is a way to synchronize data between multiple servers to account
for overloads. Multiple servers are now managing the AEPS web
site. The end user will receive faster downloads and a faster
load of pages along with higher reliability."
The new system will move AEPS toward their goal of zero downtime
and 100 percent accessibility to their database members and recruiters.
The company is also working on a new e-mail system that will include
multiple delivery methods that will not flood and overwhelm their
customers. They also said AEPS is working with their customer
service representatives to negate frustrations in the e-mail system.
Customer Service, AEPS Manager of Membership Services, says, "We
have been demonstrating the new software to companies and they
are very impressed with what we now offer. AEPS2000 is more user
friendly to our members and the companies who use our system to
recruit aviation job applicants." AEPS believes the improved
technology will bring more aviation-related companies and career
applicants to utilize their unique Internet database.
Future improvements in technology, according to Wheatley is the
development of a Windows application that will provide AEPS customers
all the functionality of the AEPS web site. The Windows application
will provide faster access to the database as well as more options
for storing and exporting the data.

AEPS
ACTIVATES NEW INTERNET DATABASE TECHNOLOGY
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE April 30, 2001
Ft. Lauderdale - The Aviation Employee Placement Service (AEPS)
has established a Background Department to verify information
aviation applicants provide on their resumes. The verification
checks are required by the FAA and utilized by human resource
managers at airlines and aircraft service companies.
The background manager for AEPS (www.aeps.com), Bob Latcham said,
"Our sole purpose is to substantiate information the potential
pilot, flight attendant or other applicant has stated on their
application forms as true and accurate." The objective of
verification, according to Latcham, is to retrieve records and
gather supportive information through a variety of sources.
Latcham made clear, his background department does not include
any interpretation of information or any personal opinions. "We
are not private investigators and we present information in a
factual manner. We operate as a third party in the process of
pre-employment screening," he said. The AEPS verifiers are
well trained on the issues of confidentiality.
In addition to company requests for background verifications,
AEPS also will provide individual background screening. This type
of background check is conducted in exactly the same manner is
a company request. Latcham said, "There is no great mystery
in the verification process or its objective. We are as thorough
as possible with both individuals as well as company requests."
Normally,
information contained in background checks include:
- 10
year work history (FAA)
- Five
year verifiable work history (FAA)
- Pilots
records
- FAA
and all license verification including violations, revocation
and accidents
- Criminal
checks
- Education
verification
- Military
checks
- Credit
checks
Background checks for human resource departments are accomplished
at no cost to the aviation-company requesting the service. Costs
to individuals will very depending on their status as an AEPS
database member. The services are designed to put companies in
better control of personnel recruitment, saving time and money.
"Conducting time-consuming background checks on prospective
employees can inefficient and costly to companies. That's where
we come in," said Latcham.
Air carriers and aircraft service companies may request pre-employment
screening for any position within their organizations. The Pilot
Records Improvement Act of 1996 (PRIA) positions include captains,
first officers, engineers and chief pilots. All air carriers operating
under part 121 or 135 are required to comply with PRIA. Security
Identification Display Area (SIDA) pre-employment screening position
are A&P mechanics, customer service representatives, flight
attendants, office personnel, dispatchers, managers and security
personnel.
For
further information on AEPS background checks, please contact
Bob Latcham, 305-433-8029, or, e-mail aeps@aeps.com.

Ft. Lauderdale - Christine Marie Naber, a senior at Lake Park
High School in Roselle, Illinois was awarded the first Aviation
Employee Placement Service (AEPS) Members and Member Companies
Scholarship. The award was presented to the 18 year-old by Jim
Dent, founder and president of AEPS, at the Women In Aviation
(WIA) annual conference now in Reno, Nevada.
Naber was selected from a group of ten finalists from throughout
the country who are all pursing a college degree in any aviation
field. The scholarship will include tuition for four years, up
to $15,000 per year, at an accredited college or university approved
by AEPS. This is the first year AEPS has participated in a scholarship
of this type in partnership with the WIA.
The AEPS scholarship Naber won is targeted to young people who
have expressed a desire to have a career in the aviation industry
and in need of assistance. Dent said, "We looked for students
who have an intrinsic interest in aviation." Other considerations
included grade point level, extracurricular activities and a 200-word
essay on the subject of AEPS activities.

and web site (www.aviationcareer.net).
Naber recently completed requirements for a private pilot license
in her quest to be a commercial airline pilot. In addition to
demonstrating her piloting skills, some of those requirements
she completed at FAA ground school included weather, flight safety,
aerodynamics, and maintenance. In addition she has built wing
frames as well as other aircraft related support equipment. Naber
attended the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) Leadership
Camp last summer. She is a member of the EAA local chapter 790.
At Lake Park High School, Naber has a near 4-point grade average

in aviation skills and the opportunities presented on the Internet.

such as AviationCareer.net and the constant availability of the
AEPS and Universal Pilot Application Service (UPAS) web sites.
Such resources, she said, build a bridge between prospective employees
and employers in the aviation industry.
Dent said, "We want our members to know their fees fueled
this scholarship and we are very proud of Christine and pleased

thousand-career candidates have participated in the recruiting

AirFairs at the centers of commercial aviation activity around
the country in order to reach as many pre-qualified aviation career
candidates."
AEPS is the largest provider of aviation career services in the
world. In addition to the AirFair programs, the Internet based
company has built a database of close to 100,000 potential aviation
applicants worldwide. More than 6,000 registered aviation recruiters
utilize the database.
There are two severe problems limiting the growth of the aviation
industry. There is the need to modernize air traffic control technology
and procedures. Just as important are the problems of finding
qualified applicants to fill pilot, maintenance, flight attendant,
operations and management positions at all levels of commercial
and business aviation.
AEPS recognizes the challenge facing aviation employers in today's
market and is rapidly expanding to help meet the needs of the
industry. Dent said, "by building our career candidate database
and producing AirFairs like today's event, we are providing a
bridge between qualified career prospects and the aviation industry".
The Universal Pilot Application Service (UPAS), a sister company
to AEPS, is a prominent part of the career forums. UPAS currently
has more than 100 companies who regularly conduct searches for
pilot applicants using the service. Tim Kirkwood serves as president
of UPAS.

Backgrounder on Aviation Employee Placement
Service (AEPS)
Aviation
Employee Placement Service (AEPS), founded by its president, James
N. Dent in January 1995, celebrated its fifth anniversary year
in 2000. The company has grown to become the largest provider
of aviation career services in the world. AEPS has built an Internet
database of more than 130,000 potential aviation applicants worldwide.
More than 7,000 aviation recruiters are registered users of the
database. While the database is free to aviation employers, applicants
pay a low yearly fee to be listed as an AEPS member. Current annual
fees are $114 for pilots and $74 for all other aviation employee
positions. There is an optional monthly fee of $12 for all positions.
There
are two severe problems within aviation today limiting the growth
of the industry. The first is the need to modernize air traffic
control technology and procedures. Second is the pervasive lack
of qualified professionals to fill pilot, maintenance, flight
attendant, management and operations positions at all levels of
commercial and business aviation.
The
success of AEPS is an important step in solving the aviation career
problem. There is no other resource within the aviation career-recruiting
field that is a close competitor to AEPS. The company is greatly
increasing their efforts to recruit more qualified aviation career
candidates. AEPS is growing at a 50 percent rate per year, however,
given the nature of the job market within the aviation industry,
the company realizes there are considerable opportunities to provide
for further expansion.
In
this context, AEPS is producing Career AirFairs at significant
aviation areas throughout the U.S. A dozen of the forums have
been successfully held providing opportunities for more than 10,000
aviation career candidates to meet and talk with nearly 150 aviation
related companies. The next in the series of aviation career forums
will be the Ft. Lauderdale, Florida AirFair, scheduled for June
15-16 at the Broward Convention Center. In addition, AviationCareer.net,
a sister company to AEPS, is both an online and printed magazine
focusing on careers in the aviation industry. Another sister-company
is the well-known Universal Pilot Application Service (UPAS).
AEPS
recognizes the challenge to aviation employers in today's market
and is rapidly expanding programs to meet the needs of the industry.
By combining improvements in their exclusive database technology,
and a wider spectrum of services linking together prospective
employers and employees, it is anticipated AEPS will continue
to be the employment resource of choice for a large portion of
the aviation industry.
If
you require more detailed information about AEPS, please access
the company's web site at www.aeps.com.
Customer Service is available at 305-433-8029, extension 304, or, e-mail
